LENT CHALLENGE

As part of the Synod process have coffee with one or two friends or family members who don’t go to Church to have a conversation about faith. This is strictly a sharing, not meant to be a debate or to pressure them to go to Mass. Questions that may help form the conversation:
1. How would you describe your journey of faith?
2. What have been the highs and lows of that journey?

Afterwards a brief summary (not sharing details or violating confidentiality) may be submitted to the parish to be included with the information shared at the consultations.

Form to provide brief summary may be found here

EVERYONE CAN BE IN A SMALL GROUP

Small Groups is where our large church gets small. Groups are 6-10 people who meet to discuss faith, go deeper in the weekly homily, and support one another in their relationship with Christ. This is the place to care for others and be cared for; a place to impact our community and the world. Small Groups are a great place to explore, ask questions, and grow.
Join us for the Lenten Small Group Series.

LENTEN HOMILY SERIES

We are excited to announce a parish-wide homily series and book study focused on the book Seriously, God? Making Sense of Life Not Making Sense.
The past few years has brought suffering, loss, and loneliness to many—family, friends, and fellow parishioners. You may be asking, “Where is God in all of this?” “Why do I feel that my prayers are unanswered?” Or, “How can there even be a God with all of the pain and suffering in the world?”
We know these experiences can have a profound impact on your faith and the life of the parish community. We invite you to come together with your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to explore these questions and to grow in faith.
What do you need to do to participate? First, join a small group. You will receive a FREE copy of Seriously, God? Making Sense of Life Not Making Sense. For six weeks, we will explore the topics of the book in small groups, and during the Sunday homily. Look for a weekly email with the theme of the week, reflections, and videos from the authors, Fr. Michael White and Tom Corcoran.

Lenten Regulations

DIOCESE OF FALL RIVER
LENTEN REGULATIONS 2022

1. Law of Fast
A. All adults (18 and older) are bound by the law of fast up to the beginning of their 60th year.
B. On days of fast, those bound by the law are limited to a single full meal. This meal is meatless. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to one's needs; however, together these two meals should not equal another full meal.
C. There are two prescribed days of fast: Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

2. Law of Abstinence
A. Those who are 14 years of age and older are obliged to observe the law of abstinence.
B. On days of abstinence, those bound by the law abstain from meat.
C. On all Fridays of Lent, abstinence is prescribed. This, of course, includes Good Friday. Abstinence is also prescribed on Ash Wednesday.

3. Lenten Discipline
The Code of Canon Law very aptly summarizes the ecclesiastical discipline in Canon 1249: "All members of the Christian faithful in their own way are bound to do penance in virtue of divine law; in order that all my be joined in a common observance of penance, penitential days are prescribed in which the Christian faithful in a special way pray, exercise works of piety and charity, and deny themselves by fulfilling their responsibilities more faithfully and especially by observing fast and abstinence..."
