Want to grow in holiness? Start by serving others - Pope Francis
SOCIAL CONCERNS MINISTRY
Social Concerns Ministry was begun in 2008 with the primary goal of helping needy families in the area to better enjoy the holidays. Through the generosity of the parishioners, 30 families were served the first year. The number has grown to 85 recently, with an ultimate objective of 100 families.
St. Mary’s Conference of St. Vincent de Paul is made up of 28 lay men and women who join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person services to those who are in need of food, housing and financial assistance. We help the needy, the poor and the homeless not only within the geographical boundaries of St. Mary’s Parish but also in partnership with the parishes in the greater New Bedford area.
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.” Matthew 25:35-36
